The roof is now finished, but the house walls are still just interwoven branches tightly knotted together and the gaps need to be filled in with mud. Soon they will have to have proper shelter. At night the wind blows through the walls, and the children often have colds. Emilia pesters Majim to finish the house. He promises to do so as soon as he has sold the corn, harvested the frijoles, and picked the watermelons….
